Daggers have no shadow
By the knife and whichever that cuts
Nobahar works are literary “painting”s and a metaphoric expression of social issues through
his outlook. Like their creator, simple soothing appearance of the paintings reflects a chaotic
depth. The Still Life, presented in the form of fruits, indicates the greed and unfulfilling desire
of humans. For if there was no desire in humans, we might have ended up elsewhere, and/or
in a better situation.
The artist’s emphasis on the knife and the contradiction of its duality in practice- from halving
the bread to rupturing the chest- and his passion in placing the fruits with a unique certitude exhibits
another form of expression in Still Life through a different perspective which is available
in works of some painters throughout the history of art. Interestingly, fruits are mostly perished,
demonstrating termination. Nobahar on the other hand, precisely knows that how and where the
knife, a two-sided visual element, must cut the fruits to leave no trace regarding the thread and
destruction. That is how an artist turns the Still Life into an expressive statement..
