Thousands of years ago, when the early mankind had not yet
learned the language skill, he would use images as a means
to convey his feelings and connect to his surroundings. the
same skill that later becomes the phenomenal tree of art. From
the dawn of creating images to the peak of today’s art, two
concepts have been dominating. the first place belongs to
animals. the craving to capture many and then fleeing from
a few or fighting against some in order to survive and at times
appreciating their powers, all bear the responsibility to their
adamant place in the figurative culture of mankind. the second
place goes to “women”. their fascinating ability to become
pregnant, to bleed, to conceive and give life, to nourish a life
form inside the body. and of course the irresistible fairness of a
female figure that must be conquered. and mankind with the
help of his restless delusions and his creative hands produces
his desired conceptual image of these two phenomenons.
in the form of a blend of species, animals turn into sphinxes,
fabled creatures depicting hopes and fears, which furthermore
suggest terror and dominance over many others. On the other
hand, by admiring the mysterious potency of reproduction and
simplifying the general shapes whilst applying exaggeration
on the sex organs, results in the rise of a goddess in which the
magic and beauty of a woman will irradiate in the creator’s
imagination.
On his path to evolution, man has relied upon thinking and
wisdom more and more each day and covered every step to
take civilization to the top, but the truth is that in the shadows,
fate and fortune have constantly targeted the act and
euphoria of human beings.
No matter how hard you try to count on logic and reason,
chances and contingencies seem to be predominating from
a higher place. and who better to understand this irreversible
concept than a gamester? Here i am, as an heir to a mass of
genes of my ancestors, who insanely loves animals without
having any supernatural fears of them.
Not having procreation in mind, i am absolutely fascinated by
feminine beauty. i do believe in fate and fortune although my
life is based on constant diligence and common sense. i admire
a gambler’s infinite hope and his risk taking spirit although i’ve
never been one.
My sculptures are modern sphinxes with the intention to give
the audience a chance to appreciate an enjoyable feeling
based upon my cultural interests and life experiences and also
to try and review some bitter truths with confection.
