Bijan Nemati Sharif, an artist doll, sculptor, and painter, was born in Ghaemshahr. After finishing high school and receiving a diploma in natural sciences, he went to the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University and completed a bachelor's degree in sculpture between 1967 and 1973. In this course, he studied under professors such as Parviz Tanavoli, Morteza Momayez, and Parviz Kalantari.
In 1975, he was a designer and manufacturer of dolls in the intellectual development center for children and teenagers. Before this period, his dolls had a decorative aspect, but upon entering the center, he used his capabilities to serve theatrical features and the children's world. During this period, he made dolls for many shows, such as Grandfather and Radish, School of Rabbits, Green Journey in Green, and Curious Jackdaw. Also, in parallel with the art doll, he had experiences in the field of theater stage design and stand design for the center. In another project with "Creative Entertainment Center" based on the designs of Parviz Kalantari, he made local Iranian dolls. Nemati Sharif, away from painting and sculpture after entering the center, devoted himself to painting and sculpture again after his retirement. He benefited a lot from his experiences in making dolls in his works.
He exhibited the paintings he created between 1990 and 1996 in the first solo exhibition of his paintings in Aria Gallery, Tehran. His second solo show was held a year later at Aban Gallery. Since then, he has exhibited his works as a soloist and as a group in the country and abroad. And in the fourth Iranian sculpture biennial in 2005, he was awarded the prize of the selected artist. In addition, the plaques of honor of the 12th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival and the 9th Tehran International Theater Festival are also visible in his artistic career.
Nemati Sharif has also been active in teaching at the College of Arts, the University of Tehran, the Faculty of Theater and Cinema, and the University of Surah. Nemati Sharif's art doll experience is somehow reflected in his painting and sculpture. He has expressed his attachment to the children's world in his pseudo-pop art illustration with familiar motifs, simplified shapes, and bold colors.
