Rare art book by Mahmoud Farshchian (1930 - present), an Iranian painter and illustrator who is known as a master of Persian miniature paintings. His name can be spelled Farsciyan or Farchtchian, and the book is the first book he ever wrote or produced (1976). Farshchian was born in Iran in 1930 and as a child, he had a chicken house at home, so his pieces often have bird elements in them. He has a doctorate in Iranian painting and Islamic arts, his first independent exhibit in Iran was in 1948, his first exhibit outside of Iran was held in Istanbul, Turkey in 1960, and his earliest exhibits in the United States were held 1972 and 1973. His works are represented in several museums and major collections worldwide, he has his own museum in Tehran dedicated to his works, and Farshchian has played an important role in introducing Iranian art to the international art scene. According to Wikipedia, this is the first book he ever produced, and we believe this is a first edition, even though that is not stated. The book has 125 pages in English and French and numerous pages at the rear in Islamic text, including a biography of the author, and this is the only copy we could find of his first book anywhere. The book is in great shape, with clean pages and bright colors on the plates, and the dust jacket has a tear on the front and and a piece is torn off on the back, but is preserved with the book.
