Mojtaba Amini was born in Sabzevar, Iran in 1978. He received a diploma in Graphic Design from Kamal al-Molk School before pursuing a BA in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. His work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Iran and internationally and is held in several prominent private collections.
In Amini’s practice, installation, sculpture, painting, and collage become sites for engaging with personal and collective experiences of loss, death, and violence. The objects and materials he employs often evoke death, fear, and separation. Materials such as fabric, leather, iron, soap, camel wool, and sandpaper bring memories and lived experiences from the realm of the intangible into the material world, giving them physical form.
