Pooya Aryanpour is one of the contemporary Iranian painters known for her abstract paintings. Using dark shades such as red and black, he creates a chaotic atmosphere in which smoky, string-like blows float in the background of this boundless space. Sometimes these abstract strands of smoke, like clouds, evoke vague shapes in the viewer's eyes. In addition to his painting activities, the artist, under the influence of Munir Farmanfarmayian's mirror work, has created mirror-covered volumes: "The face and cover of the charming Iranian motifs, like mirror work, is a possibility for me to hide taboos."
Aryanpour began his artistic studies at the Tehran Academy of Fine Arts. After that, he entered the Islamic Azad University, and from 1993 to 1999, he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in painting at this university. He has been teaching at the same university since 2001. In 1994, Aryanpour exhibited his artworks in Barg Gallery in Tehran for the first time. 1998 participated in his first international at the Bangladesh Asian Art Biennale. A year later, his paintings were exhibited in Los Angeles, Florida, New York, etc., along with the exhibition "Breeze from the Persian Garden."
Pakbaz writes about the characteristics of this artist's artworks: "Aryanpour has always established a balance between measured and spontaneous behaviors in his abstract or semi-abstract paintings. In a series of triptych acrylic compositions on paper, smooth lines and various textures appear on a background of flat colored surfaces, and the panels are joined together by their internal geometric structure. "The spontaneity and brevity of expression in Aryanpour's recent work are reminiscent of the Far Eastern art tradition."
Pooya Aryanpour's first appearance in the auctions dates back to May 2008 at Christie's Auction House. By June 2021, his artworks had appeared in 29 domestic and foreign auctions. And 75% of his artworks had been sold at international auctions. His most expensive work until 2021 was hammered in the sixth auction of Tehran for $ 84,788 on December 24, 2016.
