Drawing on an accordion-fold sketchbook during a trip to the small coastal town of Pondicherry in southeast India with a focus on studies in perspective was the starting point of the collection for Akhavan. By using her photographs from the trip, Akhavan continued working on the same notebooks for the next two years. Eventually, using the same photographs as the main structure, she focused on single paintings, mainly on canvas starting in January 2019. An important aspect in the selection of the frames for the artists has been the juxtaposition of man-made geometric structures and the complex and non-geometric presence of nature alongside one another, and as a result, the partly cloudy sky, trees and sea waves take the observer on a journey with the artist.
