I remember when I was four or five years old they would gather the herbs into a bunch and throw them in a pool full of water so that they would stay fresh. They would put the fruit in a box filled with straw. In spring the peach trees were full of blossoms. The grass shone in the sun and I was enveloped by the smell of flowers and the color of water. I would sit on a bale of grass, and watch. When I looked up at the sky I could see the pomegranates sparkling above me. Those were the days when the entire garden grew roots into my soul.
