His passion for drawing both during and after his university studies has made him focus on this medium as a means of artistic expression.
His keen interest in primitive, ethnic, and tribal art as well as pictorial sources from different global cultures, such as paintings on cave walls, Iranian ancient pictorial arts, Greek busts and sphinxes, African masks, Egyptian sphinx has helped him create numerous collections with these subjects as their main theme. It is clear that because of his passion, understanding the cultural and pictorial roots of Iranian art is of great importance to him, in fact, he has studied and closely examined the valuable heritage of Iranian art in different eras.
His most recent works have been mostly inspired by plants and flowers, and nature in general.
Proximity to the nature of northern Iran throughout his childhood has been a great influence, helping him discover new visual and pictorial elements. His recent works are, bigger and on canvas – unlike previous works, which were mostly smaller works on paper – enabling him to experiment with different visual qualities. While in this new approach, his focus has been on plants and flowers, rather than portraits, sphinxes and houses found in his previous works, history, and nature make up the underlying themes of his new collection, resulting from his interest in the history and the visual roots of the world. In these works, deformations can be seen in the plants and flowers, which are based on free, artistic expression, and play on the boundaries of pictorial abstraction. The title of this new collection, i.e. Pristine, in a way, highlights the importance of nature with all its different qualities.
